1주의 말씀 : 미륵불

Sangjenim’s Appearance *Dojeon 3:211

1 Jeung-san Sangjenim’s countenance was the very vision of that of Maitreya Buddha of Geumsansa Temple. 2 His countenance was porcelain white with round and beatific features. He had a large birthmark between His eyebrows, the mark of a buddha, and His eyes twinkled like the Morning Star. 3 Sangjenim’s voice was as resonant as a magnificent bell. The lines on His left palm formed the character im (壬), and the lines on His right palm formed the character mu (戊). 4 On His back were prominent red spots forming the pattern of the Seven Stars, and on the bottom of His feet were thirteen distinct spots. 5 His hair was jet-­black and lustrous. Strands of hair known as a ‘dragon beard’ curled discreetly under His ears and chin, but stretched out long and luxuriant below His ears when He washed. 6 His countenance and demeanor exuded an aura of serenity and poise. 7 His posture was as perfect as though a pillar ran from His head to His waist, His neck never bending and His presence radiating fortitude. His stride conveyed peerless majesty.

8 Sangjenim possessed a pronounced red spot on the inside of His lower lip. He displayed this spot to the disciples on one occasion and declared, “The Maitreya statue at Geumsansa Temple holds a wish­fulfilling jewel in its hand, but I possess one in My mouth.”

조화옹 상제님의 어용(御容)

1 증산 상제님께서는 어용(御容)이 금산 미륵불과 흡사하시어
2 용안(容顔)이 백옥처럼 희고 두루 원만하시며 양미간에 불표(佛表)의 큰 점이 있고 천안(天眼)은 샛별과 같이 반짝이시니라.
3 또 목소리는 인경처럼 맑고 크시며 왼손에 ‘북방 임(壬)’자와 오른손에 ‘별 무(戊)’자 무늬가 있고
4 등에는 붉은 점으로 뚜렷하게 북두칠성이 새겨져 있으며 발바닥에는 열세 개의 점이 선명하니라.
5 머리카락은 유난히 검고 윤이 나며 턱과 양 귀 밑에 용수(龍鬚)가 고아하게 나 있는데 평소에는 말려 있어 잘 보이지 않으나 세수하실 때면 양 귀밑으로 흘러 펼쳐지니라.
6 용안과 의표는 상하좌우가 두루 원만(圓滿)하시어 전후가 반듯하게 균형을 이루시고
7 머리부터 허리까지 마치 기둥을 세운 듯 반듯하시고 목은 절대 굽는 법이 없으시니 그 기상이 의연하시며, 걸어가시는 모습은 더할 수 없이 우아하시니라.
8 또 아랫입술 안에 붉은 점이 있는데 하루는 성도들에게 보여 주시며 말씀하시기를
9 “금산 미륵은 붉은 여의주(如意珠)를 손에 들었으나 나는 입에 물었노라.” 하시니라.

“언제든지 상제님께서 머무시는 곳에는 반드시 맑은 기운이 푸른 하늘에 통하여 구름이 가리지 못하며 비록 큰비가 올지라도 그러하더라.(영어도전 9:5)” 그게 뭐냐 하면, 상제님 정수리의 맑은 기운이 하늘까지 뻗쳐있다는 얘기다. 통하면 그렇게 되는 것이다. (태상종도사님)
“[W]herever Sangjenim resided, a pillar of resplendent qi pierced the clouds overhead, preventing them from covering the sky. This was so even during the heaviest of rains.” This passage shows that the clean energy of Sangjenim’s vertex extended all the way to heaven. This occurs when one is enlightened.
주문 읽을 땐 반드시 허리를 펴야 한다. 허리가 굽어지면 그 순간 정신이 비뚤어진다. 상제님이 앉으신 모습은 허리에다 판자를 대놓은 것 같았다고 한다. (종도사님)
Whenever you are chanting a mantra, you must straighten your back. The moment your back bends, your mind also bends. When Sangjenim sat down, His back is said to have been so straight, it was as though a board had been attached.

2주의 말씀 : 천지일월

I Am Heaven, Earth, Sun, and Moon *Dojeon 4:60

10 A disciple asked Sangjenim, “The sun ceased its motion and resumed again on Your orders. How can such a thing be?”
11 “Now that you have witnessed this for yourselves, strengthen your faith. The sun and moon move at My command.”
12 Another disciple asked, “But is it not nature’s principle for the sun to rise and set and for the moon to wax and wane?”
13 “The principle is of heaven, and heaven is of the principle; so it is that I do nothing out of subjective desire. 14 I am heaven, earth, sun, and moon. 15 Heaven and earth are My body, and the sun and moon are My eyes.”

나는 천지일월이니라

10 한 성도가 여쭈기를 “해가 상제님의 명을 받고 멈췄다가 또 명을 기다려서 가니 어찌 된 영문입니까?” 하니
11 상제님께서 말씀하시기를 “이를 보고 너희들의 신심(信心)을 돈독(敦篤)히 하라. 해와 달이 나의 명에 의하여 운행하느니라.” 하시니라.
12 한 성도가 다시 여쭈기를 “해와 달이 차고 기우는 것은 자연의 이치가 아닙니까?” 하니
13 “이치가 곧 하늘이요 하늘이 곧 이치이니, 그러므로 나는 사(私)를 쓰지 못하노라.” 하시니라.
14 또 말씀하시기를 “나는 천지일월이니라.” 하시고
15 “나는 천지(天地)로 몸을 삼고 일월(日月)로 눈을 삼느니라.” 하시니라.

Sangjenim is the one who exists as one with the mind of heaven and earth. When he said, “I am heaven, earth, sun, and moon,” he meant, “I live as one with the mind of heaven and earth.”

3주의 말씀 : 도통

The Time of the Actualization of the Lineage and Authority of Enlightenment *Dojeon 6:83

1 One day when disciples inquired about enlightenment, Sangjenim proclaimed, “At the coming of the time, one person will receive enlightenment before all others, 2 fulfilling the heavenly mandate that all daos shall unite into one. 3 I shall bestow the lineage and authority of enlightenment upon the Daedumok. 4 Since I need only reveal to him the means of enlightenment, why need I undertake the work alone?

5 “At the time when the Daedumok grants enlightenment, all the spirits of enlightenment in Confucianism, Buddhism, and Immortalism will assemble and bring to pass the enlightenment of each person in proportion to the self-cultivation of their inner qi.”

신천지 도통줄이 열릴 때는

1 하루는 성도들이 도통에 대해 여쭈니 말씀하시기를 “때가 오면 한 사람이 먼저 도통을 받나니
2 이는 만도(萬道)가 귀일(歸一)하는 천명이니라.” 하시니라.
3 또 말씀하시기를 “도통줄은 대두목에게 주어 보내리라.
4 법방(法方)만 일러 주면 되나니 내가 어찌 홀로 맡아 행하리오.
5 도통시킬 때에는 유불선 각 도통신(道通神)들이 모여들어 각기 그 닦은 근지(根址)에 따라서 도를 통케 하리라.” 하시니라.

4주의 말씀 : 일꾼

Those Who Actualize the Supreme Work of Delivering the World’s People *Dojeon 8:1

1 Bestowed with a heavenly mandate, the ilkkun are those who devote their lives to the work of heaven and earth and actualize the supreme work of delivering the world’s people.

2 At the approach of the Later Heaven’s Era of Majestic Humanity in which ‘heaven devises’ and ‘humanity accomplishes,’ 3 Jeung­san Sangjenim and Taemo Go Subunim—Heavenly Father and Earthly Mother—conferred with heaven and earth and with them established a new path for a world in which humans and spirits become one. 4 Their work is carried out in human affairs in accordance with heaven and earth’s dosu by the great teacher­father who is the sun and by the great teacher­father who is the moon. 5 Inheriting the mindset and dao lineage of the four bodies of dao-heaven, earth, sun, and moon—the ilkkun are those who pioneer the supreme work of heaven and earth and who will raise up the Later Heaven’s Paradise of Immortality.

광구천하의 대업을 실현하는 자

1 일꾼은 천명(天命)을 받아 천지사업에 종신하여 광구천하의 대업을 실현하는 자니라.
2 모사재천(謀事在天)하고 성사재인(成事在人)하는 후천 인존(人尊)시대를 맞이하여
3 천지부모이신 증산 상제님과 태모 고수부님께서 인간과 신명이 하나되어 나아갈 새 역사를 천지에 질정(質定)하시고
4 일월(日月)의 대사부(大師父)께서 천지도수에 맞추어 이를 인사(人事)로 집행하시니

이제 천지의 질서가 선천에서 후천으로 바뀌고 있습니다. 여름철의 분열기에서 가을의 대통일기로 갑니다. 천지의 뜻을 이루기 위해 증산도 진리를 열심히 전하고 많은 사람을 살리는 일에 매진하는 사람만이 진정한 성공을 거둘 수 있습니다. 바로 그것이 이 시대를 살고 있는 인간이 스스로 주인이 되어 해내야 할 일입니다. (종도사님)
Now, the order of heaven and earth is changing from the Early Heaven to the Later Heaven; the era of division in summer is giving way to autumn’s era of grand unification. Those who dedicate themselves to the work of spreading Jeung San Do’s teachings and of saving many people will attain a genuine achievement. This is the very thing that humans living in this era should accomplish as masters of their own destiny.
