선천은 상극(相克)의 운 1선천은 상극(相克)의 운(運)이라 2상극의 이치가 인간과 만물을 맡아 하늘과 땅에 전란(戰亂)이 그칠 새 없었나니 3그리하여 천하를 원한으로 가득 채우므로 4이제 이 상극의 운을 끝맺으려 하매 큰 화액(禍厄)이 함께 일어나서 인간 세상이 멸망당하게 되었느니라. 5상극의 원한이 폭발하면 우주가 무너져 내리느니라.
6이에 천지신명이 이를 근심하고 불쌍히 여겨 구원해 주고자 하였으되 아무 방책이 없으므로 7구천(九天)에 있는 나에게 호소하여 오매 내가 이를 차마 물리치지 못하고 이 세상에 내려오게 되었느니라. 8그러므로 이제 내가 큰 화를 작은 화로써 막아 다스리고 조화선경(造化仙境)을 열려 하노라.(道典2:17)
Sanggeuk in the Early Heaven 4The destiny of sanggeuk underlies the Early Heaven. 5The principle of sanggeuk has governed all humans and all existence, heaven and earth never knowing a single moment free of war, 6and now bitterness and grief fills all the world. 7Even now, as I am about to bring the reign of sanggeuk to an end, colossal catastrophes threaten the complete destruction of the human world. 8If all the bitterness and grief born of sanggeuk is allowed to explode, the universe will be destroyed.
9The spirits of heaven and earth, filled with both dismay and compassion, yearned to deliver humanity but lacked the means, 10so they ultimately journeyed to the ninth heaven and pleaded with Me, and I─unable to refuse them─descended into this world. 11I will avert all the impending colossal catastrophes using minor misfortunes, and hence bring forth the Paradise of Creative Change.
