Revere Your Ancestors like Heaven and Earth

The heavenly bond (천륜은)
between ancestors and descendants
do not end with death.
This bond endures (천륜은 지속된다 )
even after death.
Ancestral spirits in the spirit realm
constantly watch over (끊임없이 보살핀다 )
their descendants on earth, (지상의 자손을)
like a mother (엄마가 )
looking after her child.
Ancestors are (조상은 )
the root of their descendants,
and descendants are (자손은 )
the fruit of their ancestors. )
And so, if descendants die
during the Autumn Gaebyeok, (가을개벽기에 )
their ancestors in heaven (그 조상도 )
will die as well.
If descendants survive, (자손이 살면)
their ancestors in heaven (천상의 조상도)
will survive.

Notes
as well [애즈 웰] 또한, 역시

Reading Point
1. endure :

He can't endure being defeated.

a success that will endure (=지속되다)

2. like a mother looking after her child :
like는 ‘좋아하다’라는 의미의 동사로, ‘~와 같은’(= similar to 또는 the same as)의 의미를 가진 전치사로도 쓰입니다.

예: The corrupt will fall and decay like autumn leaves.

a mother looking after her child(아이를 보살피는 엄마)에서 looking은 명사 mother의 뒤에서 꾸며 주는 역할을 하는데요, 이때 looking을 현재분사라고 합니다.

예: Look at the man practicing meditation.

3. 접속사 since = ~ 때문에
If descendants survive,

their ancestors in heaven will survive.

If she will come to my house, I will teach her meditation. (X)
→ If she comes to my house, I will teach her meditation. (O)

Reading Point
1. few : 극소수

Few fulfill all of their wishes, hopes, and desires.

Few of them know it.

A few of them know it.

Little remains to be said.

Beneath all suffering and tragedy lies

untold bitterness and grief.

Untold bitterness and grief lies

beneath all suffering and tragedy.

Beneath all of our longings is a deep desire for saving lives.
(=A deep desire for saving lives is beneath all of our longings.)

3. those who : ~한 사람들

Vengeful spirits torment

the descendants of those who wronged them.

Those는 that의 복수형이죠(these는 this의 복수형).

Spiritual Maturation Continues After Death

1. What are the different kinds of + 복수명사 : 어떤 종류의 ~가 있나요?

What are the different kinds of spirits that interact with us?

What are the different kinds of mantras?

What are the different kinds of supernovae?

There are spirits who seek to repay your benevolence.

There are spirits who protect you.

3. and vice versa :
What occurs in the spirit realm affects the human world, and vice versa (=what occurs in the human world affects the spirit realm).

Jeung San Do is the principle of nature, and vice versa (=the principle of nature is Jeung San Do).

As the breath becomes calmer, so does the mind, and vice versa (=as the mind becomes calmer, so does the breath).

4. Those who ~ will +동사원형 : ~하는 사람은 ~할 것이다

Those who reach self-maturation will survive the Autumn Gaebyeok,

Those who are ignorant of the world’s tides will die.

Those who obey the principle of heaven will prosper.

Dialogue 1
A: What are the different kinds of spirits that interact with us?
B: There are guardian spirits who protect you. Oftentimes, they are your ancestral spirits. And then there are guidance spirits. Their guidance is related to your talent, interest, or career field.

A: That's it?
B: No. There are numerous kinds of spirits. But the spirits you must be aware of are spirits who try to cast revenge on you and spirits who seek to repay your benevolence.

A: 그게 다인가요?

Dialogue 2
A: What kind of relationship does the spirit realm have with the human world on earth?
B: The spirit realm and the human world are like the two sides of a coin. What occurs in the spirit realm affects the human world, and vice versa.

A: Do people continue their journey of spiritual maturation as spirits even after death?
B: Yes. Of course! People repeat numerous cycles of birth and death in their journey of self-maturation. Those who reach maturation will survive the Autumn Gaebyeok, and those who fail to do so will die.
