[태상종도사님 어천치성 체험] 태을궁이 우주공간을 항해하는 배가 되어

태상종도사님 어천 4주기 대치성 때 태을궁에서 겪은 체험입니다. 종도사님께서 도공을 내려주신 지 5분쯤 흘렀을까. 태상종도사님께서 종도사님이 앉아 계신 곳 앞쪽으로 나오시는 모습이 보였습니다. 그런데 태상종도사님 뒤를 따라 흰 도복을 입은 젊은 남자들이 횡으로 도열해 신도들 쪽을 바라보고 섰습니다. 태상종도사님께서는 태을궁에 있는 신도들 사이로 다니시며 신도들의 등을 토닥여 기운을 주셨습니다. 태상종도사님의 모습이 생전처럼 너무도 실감나게 느껴져서, 도공을 하는 중에 제가 눈을 떠보았습니다. 눈을 떴을 때는 우리 성도님들의 모습만 보이고 태상종도사님은 보이지 않았습니다.

다시 눈을 감고 도공을 하는데 이번에는 신단 단상에 도열해 있던 젊은 분들이 성도님들에게 리본을 던져주는 것이 보였습니다. 리본을 두루마리처럼 들고 한쪽 끝을 잡고 나머지 한쪽을 신도들에게 날려 주었습니다. 다시 시간이 흐른 뒤 태을궁 신단 쪽의 상제님 어진과 태모님 진영이 부각되어 보였습니다. 약간 시간이 흐른 뒤 태상종도사님께서 종도사님과 더불어 단상에 서서 상제님의 어진 쪽을 바라보시면서 지휘를 하시자 마치 태을궁이 신도들을 가득 채운 큰 배가 되어 우주공간을 항해하는 것처럼 느껴졌습니다.

종도사님께서 도공을 마치시자 저의 도공체험도 마무리되었습니다. 지난 2월 10일 정삼치성 때는 신단 쪽에 장군신명들이 도열한 것이 느껴졌는데 이번에는 도복을 입은 젊은 일꾼들이 보이는 것이 새삼스러웠습니다.

이번 체험이 혹시 저의 상상에서 비롯된 것이 아닌가 하는 걱정스러움도 있었지만 나중에는 태상종도사님께서 늘 우리들과 함께하신다는 것을 각성하게 되었습니다. ◎

The Whole Taeeulgung Palace transformed into a divine ship sailing through the cosmos

It was an experience that I had at the ascension chiseong of His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim. Five minutes after His Holiness the Jongdosanim conducted the dynamic meditation, I saw His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim walk up in front of Him. There were also youthful spirits fully clothed in dao uniforms standing behind His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim. They were arrayed along the altar, looking in our direction. His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim walked between the practitioners and patted each practitioner on the back. The whole experience was so close to reality that I opened my eyes during dynamic meditation. But His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim was nowhere to be seen among us.

Once again, I began dynamic meditation with my eyes closed and saw those youthful spirits tossing ribbons into the air. They held on to the end of each ribbon and threw the other end to us. After a while, Sangjenim and Taemonim's portraits became more noticeable. Some minutes later, I could see His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim standing on the altar with His Holiness the Jongdosanim and facing Sangjenim's portrait. He began to lead the dynamic meditation. I felt that the whole Taeeulgung Palace transformed into a divine ship that carried all the practitioners through the cosmos. This experience ceased as soon as His Holiness the Jongdosanim finished the dynamic meditation. During the last chiseong on February 10th, I saw commander spirits instead of youthful spirits. I feel that this is somewhat enigmatic. At first, I was somewhat worried that the experiences might be mere imaginations coming out to play. But now I have awakened to the core message of these experiences: that His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim is always with us.

[도기145년 11월 대천제 체험] “이것은 시두 바이러스다”

유혜안(56세, 여) / 도감, 천안구성도장

저희 부모님께서 입도식을 하고 태을궁에 오셨습니다. 그래서 저희 조상님이 아주 좋으셨는지, 돌아가신 할머니가 오셨습니다. 기뻐하시면서 “네가 참 장한 일을 했다. 너 그동안 고생 많았다.” 하시며 제 머리를 만져 주시는 것을 보았습니다.

그런데 오늘은 시두손님이 오셨어요. 실은 일주일 전에도 시두손님이 오셨어요. 그때 보니까 한 4, 50대 되는 중년여성인데 살이 퉁퉁하게 쪘어요. 아주 마음씨 좋게 생겼어요. 양옆에는 아리따운 여성 두 분이 그분을 시중들고 계셨어요. 제가 찬찬히 뜯어봤어요. 한복 비슷한 긴 복장을 입고 계셨는데 제가 한참 뜯어보고 있으니까 시두신명이 답답하셨는가 봐요.

“우리는 시두신명이다.” 그렇게 먼저 대답을 해주시더라구요. 저는 깜짝 놀라서 저도 모르게 “안 돼, 안 돼, 지금은 안 돼요, 안 돼요.” 하고 막 사정을 했어요. 시두가 무섭다는 것을 들어서 알잖아요. 제가 너무 사정을 하니까 “너는 안 죽으니 걱정 말아라.” 그러세요. 그러면서 또 “태을주를 많이 읽어 두지 않으면 살아도 곰보가 된다.” 그러세요. 태을주를 조금 읽으면 살아도 곰보가 된대요.

그런데 왼손에는 예쁘장한 항아리 같은 것을 들었어요. 오른손에는 무슨 여의봉 같은 것을 들었고요. 제가 물었어요. “손에 든 그것은 무엇이에요?” 했더니 “이것은 시두 바이러스다.”라고 그래요. 그러면서 저한테 이 이야기를 세상에 전하라는 거예요. 저에게 그 말을 해주러 왔다는 거예요. 오늘도 시두신명이 오셔서 하시는 말씀이 저에게 이 소식을 전하는 것이 그들의 사명이고, 저는 사람들에게 이것을 전하는 사명이 있대요.

시두 무섭잖아요? 그러니까 우리 일심해서 태을주 많이 읽고요. 그렇지 않으면, 그때를 놓치면 천상세계에서 조상님들이 통곡을 하신답니다. 후천 5만년이 오면 다 공멸하고 만다고 지금 조상님들이 통곡을 하세요. 그것을 알고서 가만있을 수 없어 저도 이렇게 발을 동동거리는대요. 앞으로 열심히 해서 많은 사람들 살리는 데 제 성경신을 다하겠습니다. (2015년 11월 29일 대천제) ◎

This is the smallpox virus

My parents attended the chiseong at the Taeeulgung Palace after being initiated into Jeung San Do. It probably made my ancestors so pleased that my late grandmother came to me and joyfully said while stroking my hair, "You've done really well. You've endured all hardships well."

But, the spirit of smallpox came to me today. In fact, the spirit had already come to me a week ago. She looked like a generous plump middle-aged woman in her 40s or 50s. On both sides were two good-looking women attending her. I stared at them. They were wearing long clothes, similar to Korean traditional ones. They seemed to be frustrated because I just kept staring at them without saying a word.

"We are the spirits of smallpox," they said. Much to my surprise, I pleaded with them to stop what they're going to do, saying, "No, no, not now, no." As we all have learned about the deadly effects of smallpox, I kept begging them to delay the outbreak. "You don't have to be afraid because we will pass by you," they said. "But if one does not prepare himself by chanting the Taeeulju Mantra, his face will end up being disfigured even if he survives."

She was carrying a pretty jar in her left hand, a scepter like a ruyi in her right hand. "What are they?" I asked. "This is the smallpox virus," she said. And she told me that I must tell everybody. They revealed that they had come here to convey this message to me. Today, they showed up again and repeated that it was their mission to convey this message to me and I had a grave responsibility to make this public.

We are all afraid of the smallpox virus, right? So, let's keep practicing Taeeulju meditation with one mind. If not, if we fail to prepare ourselves, all our ancestors in heaven will lament. They will lament that at the time of gaebyeok they all will be annihilated. Knowing this, I'm becoming more frantic. I will devote myself to saving people with sincerity, awakenedness, and faithfulness.

[입도식, 천도식 체험] 내 마음에 따라 응감하는 신명체험

입도식 체험 입도식을 하고 천도식을 올리는 과정에서 체험한 몇 가지를 공유할까 합니다. 입도식을 한 그날 밤, 꿈을 꾸었습니다. 제가 도장에 있는데 많은 성도님들이 “잘 들어왔다”며 축하해 주었습니다. 이후 도장에서 수행을 할 때 눈앞에서 푸른색이 뿌옇게 보였다가 사라지기를 반복하였습니다. 또 갑자기 눈 덮인 하얀 설산이 너무나 생생하게 나타나서 기분이 좋아졌습니다.

천도식 체험 제가 천도식을 준비할 때였습니다. 당초 천도식을 2015년 11월에 하기로 날짜를 잡았습니다. 하지만 사정상 여의치 않아 2016년 1월로 연기하였습니다. 그리고 꿈에 돌아가신 부모님과 함께 식사를 하고 있었습니다. 제가 막 숟가락을 뜨려는데 아버지께서 제 밥그릇을 빼앗아 가면서 “넌 먹지 말아라.” 하셨습니다. 그러면서 방구석으로 가셔서 드시는 것을 보았습니다. 아마도 천도식을 연기한 것 때문에 화가 나신 듯 보였습니다.

정성수행 체험 천도식을 올리기 전 정성수행을 하려고 마음먹었습니다. 1월 7일부터 21일간 직장 퇴근 후 약수터에서 청수를 떠다가 도장에 가서 저녁 청수를 모시고 수행하기로 작정하였습니다. 그런데 귀찮은 마음에 집에 있는 정수기 물을 떠다가 청수를 모셔야겠다고 마음을 돌려먹었습니다. 그러자 1월 6일 밤 꿈에 도장에서 국조삼신 신단의 청수를 모시고 있는데 청수 뚜껑이 바닥에 떨어지면서 뚜껑 한쪽이 깨져 버렸습니다. 그리고 옆에 있던 어떤 아주머니가 “물은 저기가 좋아.” 하면서 손으로 가리켜 주었습니다. 포천의 약수터 중에서 물이 제일 좋은 곳이 무례골 약수터인데 그곳을 가리켜 주는 것이 신기하였습니다. 다음 날부터 무례골 약수터에서 청수를 떠서 청수를 모셨습니다.

정성수행 중에도 체험을 하였습니다. 꿈에 집안에서 잔치가 벌어진 광경을 보았습니다. 한쪽 방에서는 아주머니들이 노래를 부르고 툇마루에서는 교자상을 여러 개 연결하여 많은 사람들이 마주 보며 웃으면서 음식을 먹고 있었습니다. 제게는 결혼도 못 하고 젊어서 죽은 여동생이 있었습니다. 그 여동생이 꿈에서 머리를 단정히 하고 옷을 깨끗이 입고 치장을 하고 어디를 가야 한다며 나가는 모습을 보았습니다.

천도식 후 3일간 체험 천도식을 올린 후 다음 날부터 3일간 다음과 같은 꿈을 꾸었습니다. 첫째 날에는 20살쯤 되어 보이는 처녀가 냇가에서 목욕을 하는 모습을 보았습니다. 장면이 바뀌면서 그 처자가 어떤 집에서 나오면서 물 한 그릇을 제게 떠 주었습니다. 물을 먹고 제가 “예전보다 많이 이뻐졌네.”라고 말하였습니다. 어려서 죽은 큰 누님인 듯했습니다.

둘째 날은 비포장 신작로에서 많은 사람들이 저에게 걸어오는 모습이 보였습니다. 그중 다른 사람들 얼굴은 잘 보이지 않고 5~6살 된 여자아이의 모습만 또렷이 보였습니다. 원피스를 곱게 차려입었는데 얼굴이 너무 생생하게 보여 지금도 그림으로 그리라면 그릴 수 있을 정도입니다. 5~6세 때 죽은 작은 누님인 것 같습니다.

셋째 날에는 어머니께서 머리에 쪽을 짓고 단정하게 옷을 입으시고 도전道典을 들고 공부하러 간다고 나가시는 모습이 보였습니다. 또 평상 위에서 도전을 가르치는 선생님과 그 앞에서 도전을 펴고 공부하시는 어머니 모습이 보였습니다. 아마도 천도식 때 도전 원전을 폐백으로 올려드린 결과라 생각됩니다. ◎

Spiritual experiences responding to my mindset

Initiation ceremony
I had a series of experiences when I was initiated in Jeung San Do and offered a Cheondosik. Let me share these experiences.

On the night of the initiation ceremony, I dreamed that I was staying in the dojang. Then, many practitioners came in and congratulated me for being a JSD Ilkkun. At one point when I was practicing meditation, a blue light repeatedly appeared and disappeared. At another point, a snow-covered white mountain came into view. It was so vivid that I found delight in seeing the mountain.

Cheondosik
I also had an experience while I was preparing to offer the cheondosik. The ritual was originally scheduled to take place in November, 2015. But due to circumstances beyond control, the rite was pushed back to January, 2016. I had a dream around that time. I was having dinner with my late parents. As I began to eat with my spoon, my father took my bowl of rice and said, "Do not eat." And he walked into the corner of the room and ate it. It seemed that he was angry over the delayed cheondosik.

Devoted meditation
Before offering the cheondosik, I decided to begin devoted meditation for 21 days. I decided to go to the dojang everyday after work, offer fresh water--I could get water from a nearby mineral spring--and practice meditation from the seventh of January. But I felt too lazy to keep the promise so I changed my mind, deciding to offer fresh water at home instead. Then, on the night of January 6, I dreamed that I was performing the offering of cheongsu at the dojang. I failed to hold on to the lid of a bowl of cheongsu and it fell to the floor and was partially broken. There was a middle-aged woman next to me pointing toward a mineral spring, saying "The water is good there." I looked in the direction she indicated, and saw the Muryegol mineral spring was located there. The spring is regarded as the best one in Pocheon when it comes to water quality. I was really amazed. From the next day onwards, I began to get water from there and offer it in the dojang.

I also had an experience when I was in the period of devoted meditation. I dreamed that there was a great party held in a house. In one of the rooms of that house there were some middle-aged women singing a song. On the porch many people enjoyably partook in a great feast on the table. I have a younger sister who died young, unmarried. I saw her in the dream combing her hair. She was dressed well and left the house, saying that she had somewhere to go.'

After the cheondosik
Beginning the day after the cheondosik, I had the same dream for three days in a row. On the first day, there was a maiden bathing in a stream. As the scene changed, the woman went out of a house and offered me a bowl of water. After drinking it, I said to her, "You look much more beautiful than before." I suppose that she was my older sister, who died young when I was a kid.

On the second day, many people were coming towards me on an unpaved road. I didn’t recognize them, apart from one girl. She looked five to six years old and wore a pretty dress. The image of her was so vivid that even now I can draw a detailed picture of her. I suppose that she was my other older sister, who passed away at the age of five or six.

On the third day, my mother, dressed in formal attire, was holding the Dojeon at her side and leaving the house to study. There was also a teacher giving a lecture on a low wooden platform. My mother attended the lecture while reading her Dojeon. I attribute that to my offering the Dojeon to her during the cheondosik.

[금요집중수행 체험] 밝은 빛 속으로 빨려 들어가다

도장에서 금요 집중수행을 하였습니다. 도장 내의 묵은 기운과 척신과 마신 기운을 척결하기 위해 간부들 중심으로 기본수행을 하고 ‘삼계해마대제신위’ 단문 주문을 1시간 정도 읽었습니다. 수행을 시작할 때 감기 기운이 남아 있었던 탓인지 목이 아프고 주문소리가 잘 나오지 않았습니다. 하지만 도장이 맑은 기운으로 채워지기를 바라는 마음으로 소리를 지르며 주문을 읽었습니다. 목은 아팠지만 점차 주문이 자연스럽게 나오기 시작했습니다.

한창 도공수행을 하는데 작은 점들이 보이기 시작했습니다. 저는 ‘저것이 뭐지?’ 하면서 자세히 보았습니다. 점들이 점점 선명해지자 그것들이 하늘에 흩어져 있는 별들이라는 것을 알았습니다. 가만히 그 장면을 주시하는데 에너지 광선으로 이루어진 나무 한 그루가 하늘 가운데 아름답게 서 있는 광경이 보였습니다. 잠시 후에 역시 에너지 덩어리로 이루어진 봉황새가 그 나무 위로 내려오는 것이 보였습니다. 도공 기도문이 바뀌면서 밝은 빛이 보였는데 그 빛에 집중을 하니 제가 그 빛 속으로 블랙홀처럼 빨려 들어갔습니다. 그 속에서 마치 사이다 광고 속의 거품처럼 투명한 물거품들이 무수히 쏟아져 나왔습니다.

I was swept into a bright light

Choi Sang-hyeok (43, Male) / Noksajang, Gyeongju Noseo Dojang

I attended the Friday intensive meditation session at the dojang. It was performed mostly by the senior members with the aim of expelling demon spirits and vengeful spirits from the dojang. We chanted the fundamental mantras and, especially, the phrase ‘samgye haema daeje sinui’ from the Oju Mantra for about an hour. At the beginning of the meditation, it was difficult for me to chant out loud because I got a cold a few days ago. However, I kept striving to chant loudly in the hopes of filling the whole space with resplendent qi. The pain did not go away, but the sound of my chanting gradually became stable.

In the midst of dynamic meditation, I saw small dots shimmering on the horizon. I peered into the darkness at the little things in question, saying to myself, "What are those things?" As I began to see the blurred dots distinctively, I realized that they were the stars scattered across the sky. Quietly looking at them, I saw a tree composed of a beam of divine energy glistening in the middle of the sky. After some time, a Phoenix, also composed of divine energy, came down and sat on the tree. After we chanted another phrase of dynamic meditation, I began to see a bright light. I made myself focus on its radiance, and then I was swept into the light, which was a kind of black hole. From there, innumerable transparent water bubbles poured out.
